Newlands Historic District and Neighborhood Resources. HRPS is setting up an information page to provide you with well-researched and documented information regarding Francis G. Newlands and the various elements and properties that bear the Newlands name. In the menu above, click on Newlands.
Programs — Historic Reno Preservation Society, in collaboration with the Washoe County Library System, offers its Educational Programs virtually through Zoom. These programs will be once a month on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. We will email members a link so they can register for these Virtual Programs. Historic Reno Preservation Society's free programs offer topics related to Reno's history.
Neighborhood Stories — all 18 Stories are available for your viewing — in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, HRPS canceled its Walking Tours and created Neighborhood Stories, a Zoom version using pictures of places, people and historical documents narrated by the Walking Tour Guides. The Stories don't cover an entire tour, but give you an idea of what the tour is about, and even more, it gave us the opportunity to give you more background information than we can on a walk. If you missed the events, recordings of each story are available here on the website. In the menu above, click on Tours and then Neighborhood Stories. You will be taken to the page containing links to all the videos.
HRPS Harvest of Homes Tour is canceled for Fall 2020 due to the pandemic. HRPS is committed to protecting our homeowners, volunteers and attendees during all of our events. During an event that visits the interiors of homes we could not accomplish appropriate social distancing, so we cancelled this very popular event. We hope the pandemic will be under control by next Fall and we'll be back with a Home Tour in 2021.
