Enjoy Reno's Historic Places!
It's the 9th Reno Harvest of Homes Tour
Saturday, September 29, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Get ready to be surprised by the six unique homes featured at Historic Reno Preservation Society's Harvest of Homes Tour on Saturday September 29th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. HRPS is inviting the community to participate in The Tour that should be another crowd pleaser for lovers of architecture, interior design and Reno history.
"This tour is a celebration of the beautiful homes and neighborhoods that remain in Reno," said Tour Chair Carol Coleman. "It offers an antidote to the ongoing destruction of the many historic homes around town." The houses include:
- A home in the stately Newlands Historic District, one on Nixon Avenue
- One along the "Old Verdi Road" (Mayberry) on the west edge of town
- Two houses on Wonder Street in the up-and-coming West of Wells neighborhood
- Two homes in the Midtown area, a 1905 restored beauty on Sinclair Street and a brick charmer on Humboldt Street
All homes are paired with vintage automobiles, ranging from the 1910 Chism Ice Cream Wagon to a 1961 Ford Falcon station wagon. The Program, which includes information about the homes, neighborhoods, vehicles and more, will be available online here on our website by September 1.
Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 on the day of the event. Ticket outlets include Sundance Bookstore, St. Ives Florist, Marcy’s Gallery and Gifts, Rail City Garden Center, Moana Nursery, The Freckled Frog, and Labels Consignment Boutique and they will begin sales September 1st. Tickets may also be ordered on this website by mid-August.
Proceeds from the Reno Harvest of Homes Tour support HRPS Neighborhood Preservation Fund, offering grants for community improvement projects. Committee member Sharon Honig-Bear says, "We know the public will enjoy this rare opportunity to get an inside peek at Reno's unique residential history."
